LADI6 + ELECTRIC WIRE HUSTLE @ The Corner FRi 15th April

Continuing on from their exciting summer tours including DaM-FunK, Aloe Blacc & The Grand Scheme, Mayer Hawthorne & The County and Roy Ayers – Niche Productions presents Ladi6 joining forces with Electric Wire Hustle performing Friday 15th April at The Corner Hotel Getting her start with seminal all-girl crew Sheelahroc, Ladi6 is New Zealand’sfirst lady of hip-hop. Releasing her debut solo album Time Is Not Much (produced by Fat Freddy’s Drop’s DJ Mu and later released by UK label BBE) in2008, Ladi along with her musical partner/producer DJ Parks have been on a whirlwind advernture over the past 12 months including relocating to Berlin for sixty tour dates across Europe supporting the likes of Gil-Scott Heron, Masta Ace and Mayer Hawthorne. Fellow countrymen Electric Wire Hustle are one of New Zealand’s newest offerings, featuring a fresh combination of modern hip-hop, psychedelia and soul. Forming in 2007, they released their self titled debut album through BBE unique sound which features the unmistakable vocals of Mara TK who has been compared to Marvin Gaye. Collaborating with the likes of Georgia Anne Muldrow, Steve Spacek and NZ Blues legend Billy TK on their album, EWH have also supported Shapeshifter, DaM-FunK, Talib Kweli and Peanut Butter Wolf whilst garnering a lot of support from BBC Radio 1 jocks Gilles Peterson and Benji B.
